Petroleum House, 22 August 2025: The Deputy Head of Service, Ms. Jane Kyarisima Mwesiga, met senior management of MEMD and agency heads to discuss strategies for improving service delivery and sector performance.
Agencies represented included ERA, UEGCL, UETCL, UEDCL, PAU, UNOC, UNMC, EDT, and AEC.
Ms. Mwesiga commended MEMD’s role in advancing Vision 2040 and NDP IV. PS Eng. Irene Bateebe highlighted flagship programmes—the Sustainable Energy Development Program and the Sustainable Extractives Industry Program.
Discussions covered preparations for first oil in 2026, electricity access reaching 60%, LPG clean cooking initiatives, and operationalising the Mining and Minerals Act 2022.
The Deputy Head emphasized stronger collaboration, regular reviews, and capacity support to enhance institutional effectiveness and project delivery.
MEMD reaffirmed its commitment to professional service delivery through its Client Charter and Service Delivery Standards, pledging to work with stakeholders to drive national transformation in energy and extractives.
