Dar es Salam Port, 27 September 2025: The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project has reached a significant milestone with the arrival of the last batch of line pipes at the Dar es Salaam port. This marks a major step forward in the implementation of the pipeline construction, bringing the project closer to its expected commissioning in July-August 2026.
The shipment of 16 out of 16 batches of line pipes is a testament to the progress being made on the project. With the pipes now in place, the construction phase is expected to move forward rapidly.
The EACOP project will transport crude oil from the Lake Albert region of Uganda to the Chongoleani peninsula near Tanga in Tanzania, where it can access world markets. With the arrival of the final pipe shipment, the project is poised to enter the final stages of construction. The EACOP team will now focus on laying the pipes and completing the necessary infrastructure to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of crude oil.
The project’s completion is expected to have a significant impact on the economies of both Uganda and Tanzania, generating revenue and creating jobs. The EACOP project is being implemented with the utmost commitment to environmental and social responsibility, ensuring that the rights and interests of local communities are protected.
