Petroleum House, Entebbe, July 2025: The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development and UEDCL signed two Implementation Agreements under the Electricity Access Scale-Up Project to deliver over 900,000 new electricity connections.
These include 508,035 under the Results-Based Financing Agreement and 388,400 under the Materials Provision Agreement. PS Eng. Irene Bateebe emphasized the agreements’ role in accelerating nationwide access, while UEDCL MD Paul Mwesigwa pledged efficient delivery and reminded Ugandans that only a UGX 23,600 inspection fee is payable directly to the bank or online. Eligible Ugandans can now apply for free electricity connections through UEDCL.
