The EASP Project Coordination Unit (PCU), Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD), EASP Project Implementation Units (PIUs), and key partners participated in a technical training on the World Bank’s Environment and Social Framework (ESF) at Four Points by Sheraton.
The training was officially opened by the Commissioner RuED, Eng. Abdon Atwiine, and attended by the World Bank Task Team Leader, Mr. Joseph Kapika amonst other officials. Facilitated by World Bank specialists, the sessions are covering the full range of Environmental and Social Standards (ESS1–ESS10), with practical discussions focused on managing environmental and social risks, labour conditions, stakeholder engagement, community health and safety, land acquisition, indigenous peoples, and cultural heritage.
Additional key areas of focus include procedures for incident response, grievance mechanisms, and the integration of environmental and social (E&S) requirements into procurement and project implementation.
This training aims to enhance capacity in managing environmental and social aspects of the EASP and ensure compliance with World Bank standards.
