Hon. Phiona Nyamutoro, State Minister for Mineral Development, concluded a 3-day inspection of mines in Central, Western, and Kigezi regions to boost compliance, sustainability, and value addition.
On 6 August, she visited Kisita Gold Mine and Kitanda artisanal sites in Kasanda, urging mercury-free methods and directing miners to unify under an association for licensing.
On 7 August, she toured Devki Steel Mills’ iron ore exploration in Rubanda, stressing long-term benefits. On 8 August, she inspected H5 Resources’ tin project in Ntungamo and Shaft Sinkers’ Kitaka Mine in Ibanda, pledging government support, value addition, and responsible mining practices.
