Four Points Hotel, Kampala, 5 August 2025: Hon. Sidronius Okasaai Opolot, State Minister for Energy, officiated the inaugural Telecom Sector Power Forum themed “Powering the Telecom Sector to Drive Socio-Economic Transformation.”
He emphasized integrating energy and telecom infrastructure as a national priority, announcing plans for a joint coordination framework with ICT & NG, UCC, ERA, telecom providers, and grid/off-grid operators. ATC Africa CEO Marek Busty stressed reliable power as key to competitiveness:
“Connectivity begins with electricity.” ICT Minister Dr. Chris Baryomunsi noted NDP IV’s universal telecom targets require reliable power.
