Four Points by Sheraton, Kampala: Today marked the inaugural meeting of the Committee to oversee the development of a Regional Cumulative Impact Management Strategy (CIMS) for oil and gas activities in the Albertine Graben. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD) and the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) will co-chair the committee’s work, beginning with the recruitment of a technical partner to develop a comprehensive strategy and pilot its implementation.
The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including TotalEnergies, EACOP, OPM, MTWA, NEMA, NPA, PAU, Uganda National Biodiversity Fund, the Jane Goodall Institute, and MEMD officials.
