Petroleum House, 1 August 2025: MEMD, with the World Bank, UECCC, and UEDCL, concluded a 10-day Implementation Support Mission for the Electricity Access Scale-Up Project (EASP). Chaired by Under Secretary Ms. Grace Tusiime, the meeting reaffirmed the commitment to accelerating electricity access.
Progress included operationalizing Implementation Agreements, advancing Results-Based Financing and Materials Provision, and grid expansion planning. The World Bank pledged additional support, stressing timely disbursement, monitoring, and safeguards.
Procurement of infrastructure was highlighted as key for last-mile connections. Uganda was urged to fast-track implementation, enhance awareness, and ensure inclusivity. A mid-term review is set for October 2025, ahead of ASCENT Week.
