Igongo Country Hotel, Mbarara, 21 August 2025: The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD), in partnership with the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS), held a stakeholder sensitisation workshop at Igongo Country Hotel, Mbarara, targeting local authorities from the Greater Ankole and South Western districts. The workshop aimed to raise awareness on the fuel marking and quality monitoring programme, highlighting the petroleum supply chain from entry at Uganda’s borders to the final consumer.
Representing the Commissioner, Petroleum Supply Department, Mr. Stephen Barisigara, Assistant Commissioner Standards, Licensing, and Quality Assurance (MEMD), outlined government initiatives, stressing adherence to policy standards and guidelines in licensing and constructing fuel stations. “Local authorities, please follow these guidelines as you issue licences,” he emphasized.
