Igongo Country Hotel, Mbarara, 21 August 2025: MEMD, in partnership with UNBS, held a sensitisation workshop for local authorities from Greater Ankole and South Western districts on fuel marking and quality monitoring.
The session highlighted the petroleum supply chain from Uganda’s entry points to end users, stressing the importance of quality assurance. Representing the Commissioner for Petroleum Supply, Mr. Stephen Barisigara, Assistant Commissioner Standards, Licensing, and Quality Assurance, urged strict adherence to policy standards when licensing and constructing fuel stations.
He emphasized local authorities’ role in ensuring compliance to safeguard consumers and strengthen Uganda’s petroleum supply chain.
