Kasese, 19 September 2025: Mr. Vincent Kato, Ag. Commissioner for Geothermal Resources Development, conducted a reconnaissance visit to Kasese District ahead of planned geothermal surveys.
His visit covered Sempaya hot springs in Semuliki National Park, as well as Kabuga, Kiwa Heritage, and Kyiriba sites, where communities continue to use the springs for therapeutic and traditional purposes.
Mr. Kato held meetings with district leaders, including the RDC, CAO, LC V Chairperson, and local councils, stressing transparency and community engagement. He assured residents that survey equipment is non-invasive and safe.
The geothermal surveys, scheduled for late September 2025, will proceed with district facilitation and community support.
