Wakiso, 5–7 September 2025: The Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, concluded a three-day engagement with leaders and communities in Wakiso District, focusing on service delivery and accountability.
Accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD) and Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL), she interfaced with residents on energy-related challenges.
Communities raised concerns about unreliable power supply, delayed grid connections, and alleged extortion in the connection process, citing impacts on welfare and productivity. The Prime Minister assured residents of government’s commitment to address these issues. MEMD and UEDCL pledged reforms, tighter oversight, and improved customer service to accelerate electrification, enhance reliability, and eliminate malpractices, ensuring infrastructure delivers tangible benefits.
