Petroleum House, Entebbe, 28 August 2025: The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, Eng. Irene Bateebe, convened a meeting with the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) team and the Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) to discuss electricity distribution for the 296 km crude oil pipeline.
The engagement focused on aligning EACOP with the electricity supply industry regarding regulatory actions necessary to ensure reliable power distribution along the pipeline route. The project involves the construction of a 296 km, 33kV distribution line supported by seven containerised substations.
In his closing remarks, EACOP Deputy Managing Director, Eng. John Habomugisha, presented the Permanent Secretary with a progress report on the project. He reiterated that EACOP remains on track to achieve first oil by July 2026.
