Soroti University, 22 July 2025: INVAP-SAU, in partnership with Queensland University, University of Leeds, and TECLAB Limited, began site evaluation studies for Uganda’s first Centre for Nuclear Science and Technology (CNST), supervised by MEMD.
Activities started with an opening meeting before fieldwork at the CNST site, where topographic studies identified nine borehole sites (BH1–BH9). Drilling commenced at BH5 and BH2, with soil samples collected at various depths for Standard Penetration Testing.
The studies will provide key geotechnical data to guide structural and environmental planning, with samples analyzed in laboratories to support design and development of the nuclear facility.
