The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD) has developed a draft Nuclear Power Programme to integrate nuclear energy into Uganda’s energy mix, in line with Vision 2040 and the revised Energy Policy (2023). The roadmap outlines phased development and implementation to meet future energy needs.
Through the Nuclear Energy Department, MEMD is consulting Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to raise awareness, encourage dialogue, and secure critical input.
Key engagements include MoPS, NEMA, AEC, MoWT, MoWE, and NPA, with further consultations planned with MoFPED, MoES, MoDVA, and local governments to ensure transparency and broad acceptance.
