Welcome to the 6th edition of the Energy and Extractives Update, our quarterly newsletter that shares the latest developments, activities, and milestones of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development.
In this issue, we highlight notable milestones within our mandate of providing policy guidance, regulation, and attracting investment in the development and exploitation of energy, minerals, oil, and gas resources.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD) has made significant strides in FY 2024/2025. In this issues, we share the following: the launch of the LPG Starter Kit Distribution in Kumi marks a pivotal step towards promoting clean cooking energy across Uganda; Hon. Phiona Nyamutoro spearheaded the clean cooking awareness campaign in Nebbi, emphasizing the need for sustainable energy solutions; Additionally
Hon. Nyamutoro launched the inaugural Youth Energy Summit (YES 2025), aiming to engage young Ugandans in the energy sector.
The Ministry also saw progress with the TBEA Subcounty Electrification Project in Igongo and continues to attract investors for green mining and energy development, further advancing Uganda’s energy landscape.
