Serena Conference Centre, Kampala, 8 July 2025: Hon. Dr. John Chrysestom Muyingo, State Minister for Higher Education, opened the 12th GBEP Bioenergy Week on behalf of the Minister of Energy.
He stressed Uganda’s energy transition, advocating a phasedown of fossil fuels and traditional biomass while promoting clean cooking and biofuels.
He highlighted the Biofuels Blending Program targeting 5% bioethanol blending. MEMD PS was represented by Mr. Felix Okurut, joined by H.E. Mauro, Italian Ambassador, and FAO’s Mr. Yetgakem Beraki.
They underscored Uganda’s commitment to bioenergy development and international collaboration since joining the Global Bioenergy Partnership in 2024.
