Nakasongola, 4 September 2025: The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD), led by Eng. Simon T. Kalanzi, Commissioner Nuclear Energy, today held a consultative meeting with Nakasongola District leaders on the proposed 7,200MW Nuclear Power Plant in Kisenyi village, Kalungi Sub- County.
Eng. Kalanzi urged leaders to prepare communities to benefit through education, farming, and business opportunities linked to the project, which is expected to create jobs and drive infrastructure development including roads, schools, and hospitals. The RDC welcomed the initiative, pledging cooperation. The team concluded with a tour of the proposed site. Eng.
