Nyagak, Zombo District, 1 Aug 2025: Energy Minister Hon. Dr. Ruth Nankabirwa, joined by Hon. Phiona Nyamutoro, commissioned the 6.6MW Nyagak III Hydropower Plant, boosting West Nile’s power supply and adding clean energy to Uganda’s grid. She hailed it as a transformative milestone delivering one of the lowest tariffs among hydropower plants, with benefits including improved access, reliability, reduced load shedding, and regional trade opportunities.
Developed through a PPP with UEGCL and private partners, the project will spur rural development and revenue growth.
The event, attended by key stakeholders, underscored Uganda’s commitment to universal electricity access under Vision 2040.
