Hoima — 29 October 2025: The Head of Public Service and Secretary to Cabinet, Ms. Lucy Nakyobe, joined PS-MEMD Eng. Irene P. Bateebe on a two-day supervision tour of the Albertine oil and gas developments today.
The delegation – which included PS-ICT & NG Dr. Amina Zawedde, UNOC CEO Ms. Proscovia Nabajja, and teams from PAU, MEMD, UNOC, the Ministry of ICT&NG, media and industry partners – visited the Kingfisher Development Area (KFDA), the Luwero Waste Management Plant and the Kabalega Industrial Park Airport.

At Kingfisher, officials were briefed that production is targeted at 40,000 barrels per day, contributing to a projected national peak of 230,000 bopd. Three of four well pads are complete and construction of the Central Processing Facility is progressing steadily. More than 70% of the technical workforce on site are Ugandans, many of them young professionals — a sign of growing local content and skills development.

The visit underlined readiness for First Oil by mid-2026, supported by critical infrastructure and a legal and regulatory framework designed to safeguard national interests. The projects have attracted over USD 7.5 billion in foreign direct investment, officials said, reflecting strong investor confidence.
The team will visit the Tilenga Project tomorrow to review further milestones. The PS-MEMD informed the media that the progress demonstrates coordinated leadership, growing local participation and tangible momentum toward production.
