The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development joined the rest of the country in commemorating International Labour Day on 1st May 2026, a day dedicated to recognising the contribution of workers towards national development.
The celebrations provided an opportunity to appreciate the dedication, professionalism and commitment of staff across the Ministry and its affiliated agencies who continue to drive progress within Uganda’s energy, petroleum and mineral sectors.
The Ministry also celebrated the achievements of sector professionals who received national recognition for their contribution to Uganda’s development, including Eng. Dr. Geoffrey Ogwang, Acting Commissioner for Midstream Petroleum, who was awarded the National Independence Diamond Jubilee Medal.
As MEMD continues to implement strategic programmes and projects, management appreciates the hard work and resilience of staff whose efforts contribute to the transformation of Uganda’s energy and mineral landscape.
