Entebbe, 17 September 2025: The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD), Eng. Irene Bateebe, hosted a delegation of international and local investors led by State Minister Hon. Alice Kaboyo to discuss investment opportunities in Uganda’s energy, oil and gas, and minerals sectors.
Eng. Bateebe highlighted priority projects, including Tilenga, Kingfisher, EACOP, the planned refinery, petrochemical industrial park, and new hydropower developments. She emphasized opportunities in project execution, supply-chain participation, local content, knowledge transfer, and renewables. MEMD technical teams presented ongoing petroleum exploration efforts, including a planned third licensing round and a new National Petroleum Policy, alongside Uganda’s mineral wealth, regulatory framework, and digital cadastre tools.
Hon. Kaboyo praised the Ministry’s comprehensive briefing and encouraged follow-up engagement. Eng. Bateebe invited investors to formally express interest, reaffirming MEMD’s commitment to guide partnerships that deliver value to Uganda’s economy and communities.
