The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD) has reaffirmed Government’s commitment to ensuring that Uganda’s petroleum resources drive sustainable and inclusive national development through skills development, local content participation and capacity building
Representing the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development at the Oil and Gas Skills Expo 2026, the Under Secretary, Ms. Grace Tusiime, emphasized the importance of equipping Ugandans with the knowledge and skills required to participate meaningfully in the country’s growing petroleum and energy sectors.
Speaking to students, industry players and other stakeholders, Ms. Tusiime highlighted the strategic role of the recently launched National Petroleum Policy, 2025 in guiding Uganda’s petroleum development agenda and maximizing national benefits from the sector.
She noted that as Uganda advances towards First Oil, Government remains committed to promoting local content, supporting skills development and creating opportunities for Ugandans across the petroleum value chain.
The annual expo provides an important platform for connecting students and young professionals with emerging opportunities in Uganda’s oil and gas industry.
