The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development congratulates Eng. Dr. Geoffrey Ogwang, Acting Commissioner for Midstream Petroleum, upon receiving the prestigious National Independence Diamond Jubilee Medal during the International Labour Day Investiture Ceremony held in Buikwe District.
The award, conferred by His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, recognises individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Uganda’s development and the protection of the country’s independence.
Eng. Dr. Ogwang was recognised alongside colleagues from the Uganda National Oil Company, Petroleum Authority of Uganda and the East African Crude Oil Pipeline project for their contribution to the development of Uganda’s petroleum sector.
The team played a key role in negotiating and concluding the legal and commercial frameworks that supported major projects including Tilenga, Kingfisher, EACOP and the refinery project.
Their efforts contributed significantly to Uganda reaching Final Investment Decision in 2022 and advancing preparations towards First Oil.
The Ministry congratulates Eng. Dr. Ogwang on this well-deserved national recognition and thanks him for his dedicated service tothe country
