Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in the petroleum sector following a high-level technical engagement held at Petroleum House, Entebbe.
The meeting followed resolutions of the Uganda–DRC Joint Permanent Commission (JPC) held from 8–10 May 2026 and brought together petroleum officials from both countries to discuss collaboration across the petroleum value chain.
Welcoming the delegation, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, Eng. Irene Bateebe, reiterated Uganda’s commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation in the development of shared petroleum resources and regional energy infrastructure.
Technical teams from MEMD, the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) and the Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) provided updates on Uganda’s petroleum sector, covering policy, regulatory and commercial developments. Discussions also addressed regional fuel supply challenges and measures to enhance energy security. Led by Secretary General Mr. Christian Kanku Kasaala, the DRC delegation commended Uganda for sharing its experiences and technical expertise. The visit concluded with a tour of the Petroleum Data Centre and Core Centreat Petroleum House
